Despite US mediation to resolve Kosovo-Serbia final phase of potential peace deal, US Congressman Eliot Engel, who is also chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, is assessing the future of Kosovo. talks remain unclear.
Thus is written in a letter Engel sent to the Mayor of Presevo, Albrim Arifi, whom he invited for a meeting in Washington.
In a letter published by Arifi, Engel writes that the future of normalization talks between Pristina and Belgrade remains unclear.
He adds that any agreement reached should also take into account the rights of Albanians in Presevo.
"Although the future of normalization talks between Belgrade and Pristina remains unclear, it is imperative that any final agreement take into account the rights of ethnic Albanians and address the opportunities for economic growth in Presevo," Engel writes, as he says in person will be committed to the rights of the inhabitants of this region
To discuss the matter, Engel invited Arif to Washington.
"At the invitation of Congressman, friend of the Albanians Mr. Eliot Engel, as well as Chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee, will visit the US Congress in Washington DC to inform Mr. Engel will deal with the current political situation in the Presevo Valley and will emphasize our position on resolving the issue of Albanians in this area for individual and collective rights, "Arifi wrote.
