American President Donald Trump announced on Monday that the U.S. policy regarding the International Monetary Fund on the issue of Greece will be revealed in the next few days.
Speaking yesterday at a meeting with conservative journalists at the White House — a day after the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Spring Summit — President Trump, despite not giving specific details, stated that “we’ll have something on the IMF in a few days.”
In a related question by Newsmax about the Greek crisis, Trump replied: “Greece! They are in such a terrible situation there. It’s awful. Are you a Greek?” he asked the American journalist.
During the press conference the U.S. President made it clear that he was sympathetic to Greece’s difficult situation after eight years of crisis and suggested the U.S. would support maintaining the current level of IMF funding instead of asking Congress to Cancel it.
