The US Navy Carrier Strike Group 8, led by the flagship aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman, conducted 18 sorties and expended 14 ordinance on Monday in support of US Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR) against Daesh terrorist group, US European Command (EUCOM) said in a statement on Tuesday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — In total, the strike group has conducted 148 combat sorties and expended 125 ordinance while operating from the US 6th Fleet, the statement said.

"The Sailors aboard USS Harry S. Truman have shown their unwavering dedication during our sustained combat operations while deployed in the Fifth and Sixth Fleet Areas of Operation," said commanding officer Capt. Ryan Scholl. "These professionals have enabled us to precisely deliver more ordnance than any other aircraft carrier in US history in support of OIR objectives."
