Greek  Parliament Head Evangelos Meimarakis in Albania

Athens will exert its influence, for that Albania receive candidate status in June this year. This has been the attitude of the Greek parliament leader Evangelos Meimarakis, who arrived in Tirana for an official visit. During the meeting with his counterpart Ilir Meta , the Greek official said Greece supports membership of the Balkan region in the European Union . At the meeting the President of the Greek Parliament with Democratic Party leader Basha, talks focused on bilateral relations and the process of European integration of Albania in the direction of the Presidency of the European Union from Greece . Opposition leader praised Greece's support for NATO membership and free movement of Albanian citizens in the "Schengen". Basha expressed gratitude for the support and wishes during the Greek presidency of the EU, Albania receive candidate status. Greece holds the rotating EU presidency , to her voice as for NATO membership, has a significant weight in decision expected for the status.
