Vučić underscored the necessity for further enhancement of traditionally good ties between the two countries, and expressed gratitude for the major political support of Greece to Serbia in its European integration and preservation of territorial integrity, the government office for cooperation with the media released.
Dendias offered assistance to Vučić in terms of Greek experts who would help Serbia in the fight against corruption and organised crime, and Vučić accepted the offer.

The two high officials also discussed cooperation in economy and setting up favourable conditions for the arrival of a number of Greek investors.

Readmission protocol

Serbian Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivica Dačić and Greek Minister of Public Order and Citizen Protection Nikos Dendias signed in Belgrade on Wednesday a protocol on the implementation of the readmission agreement between the EU and Serbia.

Dačić and Dendias agreed that the relations between Serbia and Greece are at a very high level, grounded in history, but that they could always become even better.

The Serbian prime minister and Greek minister talked about the EU, Serbia's EU integration, Kosovo-Metohija, and security cooperation. Dačić also thanked Dendias for the support Greece has been offering to Serbia.

He underscored that Greece and Cyprus are Serbia's greatest friends in the EU, and especially thanked them for not giving in to pressure in relation to the issue of Kosovo-Metohija.

Speaking about the EU integration, Dačić said that Serbia is working on ensuring that the intergovernmental conference, which should mark the official beginning of talks with the EU, be held even before January, but that even if it happens to be in late January, that would be a symbolic coincidence, as Greece will then take on the EU Presidency.

Dačić voiced commitment to developing relations between the two countries, adding that he will propose to Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras that the two governments hold a joint sitting every year, thus strengthening political, economic and security ties even further.

The prime minister announced that in late September he will visit Greece and the island of Corfu to which the Serbian army withdrew during World War I.

Dendias said that Greece continues to support the efforts Serbia is investing in the EU accession, and advocates for Serbia to become a fully-fledged member state of the EU as soon as possible, because it believes in Serbia's role in the Western Balkans and the EU as a whole.

He praised the negotiating process between Belgrade and Priština that is being held in Brussels, while at the same congratulating the Serbian prime minister on the political courage and wisdom in tackling the Kosovo issue.

Dendias said that Greece will assume the EU Presidency in few months and is ready to do everything to the benefit of Serbia and its integration.

Dačić and Dendias also discussed the issue of illegal migration, the fight against organized crime and cooperation in emergency situations.
