BELGRADE -- Serbia’s Interior Minister Ivica Dačić
has stated that Serbian and foreign security services have information
about plans to impede elections in Kosovo.
“There is information that is not only ours but foreign services’ also that not only the Priština authorities but various groups that cannot be considered to be under any control of KFOR and EULEX are preparing certain actions that would be aimed at interfering with the elections in Kosovo and Metohija,” Dačić said on Sunday.
He pointed out that it was therefore important to reach an agreement with the international community that should help hold the elections in Kosovo.
“It was all the same to us whether it was UNMIK or OSCE because Serbia equally takes part in both organizations,” the interior minister said and expressed hope that the fact that the elections would be held with OSCE’s help would prevent unrests and incidents.
According to him, the attacks are planned by Kosovo Albanian extremist organizations and various paramilitary units which are, as he said, “always held in reserve somewhere”.
“This certainly isn’t done without the knowledge of the Priština authorities,” Dačić concluded.
