Greek PM of the Komunist Party, Liana Kanelli, speaking for the British media for the Crisis in Greece

Greek communist MP Liana Kanelli appeared Thursday on Channel 4 News in the UK and made quite an impression on everyone just as she does on Greek TV programmes.

Kanelli’s opening lines were, “We Greeks are bold and beautiful”. The Greek MP said Greece’s referendum vote was fake and akin to being asked “Do you want to die or do you want to be killed?”

Her habit of calling presenter Jon Snow with the friendly “my dear” also caused a lot of amusement on Twitter, since the British did not apparently know the Greek MP and her way of expressing.

In fact a certain Guardian blogger wrote “Can someone get her on Newsnight to cross swords with Jeremy Paxman?…”
