The Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras warned that there was a risk of Greece turning into a “black hole” for tens of thousands of refugees and migrants, in an interview for the Financial Times.
In his interview, which was published shortly before a critical EU summit, Mr. Tsipras argued that Greece is accused of not protecting its borders, however the country’s critics are not offering up any solutions.
According to the Prime Minister, Greece authorities have done their best to address the crisis "without any discounts on our values” and stressed that it is important to approach the problem with care and treat the arriving refugees and migrants compassionately.
PM Tsipras also denounced the decision of Slovenia, Croatia and FYROM to filter refugees and migrants and exclude those from Africa from wanting to pass through their territories.
