Will Ankara take aim at Patriarch Bartholomew?

Against the background of the failed coup in Turkey and the ongoing crackdown on sympathisers of Fethullah Gülen, Ankara might take aim at the Orthodox patriarch of Constantinople, or try to win him, writes the US Ambassador (retired) Arthur H. Hughes.

Arthur H. Hugues has served as US Ambassador to Yemen in 1991-1994, after which he became the Deputy Assistant to the Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs. He has also served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Near East and South Asia and has held numerious other posts with the U.S. Foreign Service, including as Deputy Chief of Mission in Tel Aviv.

At least since Mustafa Kemal’s time, Orthodox Christians in Turkey have witnessed repressions from the state. Thousands of Turkish-tongue Christians had to emigrate. In 1971, the Halki theological seminary was closed down. The dissemination of orthodox literature and missionary activities of any kind are banned. In an attempt to foster patriotism and obtain a wider support of the conservative part of society, the Turkish government tried to build relations with nationalists, most radical of whom even made several attempts at Patriarch Bartholomew! [Patriarch Bartholomew I of Constantinople is the 270^th and current Archbishop of Constantinople and Ecumenical Patriarch, since November 1991.]

It’s no wonder that such a situation induced the Patriarchate to establish close ties with the American political elite. Congregations in the US and the donations from American businesspersons of Greek origin are the main sources of income for the Ecumenical Patriarchate. In its turn, Washington considers the condition of religious minority in Turkey an ace in the diplomatic game to put pressure upon Ankara. Moreover, being primus inter pares among the heads of the other Autocephalous Churches, the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople can affect the whole Orthodox world. And, obviously, the US intelligence couldn’t have missed such a chance.

Thus, one of the members of the American-Israeli lobby in the Constantinople Patriarchate is Father Alexander Karloutsos, Public Affairs Officer close to Archbishop Demetrios. Thanks to his ties with high-level officials and Greek-American billionaires, he is basically the only person who controls the money flows from the US to the Phanar, and that gives him wide possibilities of exerting pressure upon the Ecumenical Patriarchate. On the other hand, Karloutsos is also in good relations with former CIA Director George Tenet, and with the preacher Fethullah Gülen cooperating with the American intelligence. That means the amount of financing is directly bound to how successfully the Patriarchate’s heads accomplish the tasks they receive from their US supervisors.

Besides that, Patriarch Bartholomew personally has met with Gülen, or Hoca Efendi, as he calls him, quite a number of times. For instance, they met on 6 April 1996 to discuss the prospects of interfaith dialogue. This was before Gülen fled to the US with the assistance of the diplomat Morton Abramovitz, CIA agents Graham Fuller and George Fidas, and the above-mentioned Fr. Alexander Karloutsos.

The Patriarch of Constantinople praised Gülen in 2012 when he took part in a meeting of Journalists and Writers’ Association (GYV) founded by the Turkish preacher. About a month before the event, the Chicago Tribune published an interview with Bartholomew in which he highly appreciated Gülen’s efforts to develop interfaith dialogue and foster intimacy among faiths “for the benefit of humankind.” Then, a week past the Association’s meeting, on 13 May 2012 in an interview dedicated to the award Bartholomew received from Roosevelt Institute, the Patriarch publicly mentioned his friendship with “Hoca Efendi” [Gülen]: “We really love him. We hope he comes back soon.” Should anyone wonder than why the Patriarch of Constantinople touched upon the inadmissibility of Muslim services in Hagia Sophia only on 11 July – a month after they had begun – and just 4 days before the attempted coup?

Does the Turkish government realize its failure after the recent coup attempt? Would they try to win the Orthodox patriarch over or crackdown on him? Obviously, it would be much easier for Erdogan to cut off the foreign financing of the tiny Turkish Orthodox community to get rid of it for good. On the other hand, the cooperation with its own Orthodox Patriarch could give Turkey new possibilities to improve its reputation and expand its influence in the Orthodox world. Should the authorities recognize the Ecumenical status of the Patriarchate of Constantinople at last?

Unfortunately, it would be extremely hard to ground such a decision at this moment. Instead of consolidating Orthodox Churches, the Council held in June on Crete simply alienated them. We saw Patriarch Bartholomew incapable of uniting the Orthodox world. Moreover, it turned out that his influence doesn’t affect even a half of Orthodox Christians! The reasons are his authoritarianism, pertinacity and hostility towards the Russian Orthodox Church.

Such a fact diminishes the Patriarchate’s value for those in power in Turkey. And Patriarch Bartholomew seems to have not that much time to attempt to change the situation.

Trouble Brewing: Real Threats Clinton Camp Prefers Not to Talk About

Although the US mainstream media is asserting its audience that Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has given up and is merely unable to win, facts on the ground prove otherwise. "Donald Trump is preparing to lose… his rhetoric betrays a shift in psychology," CNN's contributor Timothy Stanley suggests.
"Given his personality type, I think he is exhibiting signs of intense frustration that comes from the diminishing amounts of undeserved adulation he received during his primary run. And that may very well lead him to simply take his ball and go home," CNBC's senior analyst Ron Insana believes.
However, according to Peter Navarro, a professor at the University of California-Irvine and a senior policy advisor to the Trump campaign, the situation is not as dire as it seems to some media pundits.
Navarro draws attention to the fact that political analysts have repeatedly underestimated and miscalculated Trump's moves in the course of the presidential campaign. Likewise, today, they have rushed to declare Hillary Clinton the likely winner of the 2016 presidential race.

"The question, of course, is whether these elites will finally get it right and turn Trump into an embarrassing historical footnote-or once again be spectacularly wrong. The answer will inevitably hinge on whether each of these 'Seven Pillars of Beltway Wisdom' turn out to be on point-or wildly off the mark," the US academic notes in his article for The National Interest.

Could Deep Dissatisfaction in the US Political System Lead to a Trump Victory?

First, national polls show that Hillary Clinton is currently leading Donald Trump in some "key battleground states." However, Navarro notes, that Trump still has strong positions in traditional "red" states. Furthermore, he may redraw some "blue" states into "red" due to his "independent-friendly and likely centrist" agenda.
The second misconception is that Hispanics will prefer Clinton to Trump, because she propagates "open borders" while her opponent wants to build a "big beautiful wall" between the US and Mexico.
Citing Brian Joondeph from American Thinker, Navarro underscores that Latino voters rank immigration the fifth in importance behind education, jobs, healthcare and the deficit.

Since Trump's message for Hispanic voters is that he wants not only to create new jobs for them but also to prevent illegals from taking their jobs (thus driving down their wages), he stands a good chance of winning their hearts and minds, he notes.

Third, similarly, those who believe that Hillary Clinton will command the "black vote" could be mistaken, the US scholar remarks. President Obama and Democrats have failed to improve the living standards of the African-American community.

"Trump will bluntly ask black (and brown) Americans whether they are more interested in more welfare checks and food stamps, which Hillary Clinton will happily supply, or whether they want the kind of job opportunities and rising wages a Trump presidency will offer," Navarro stresses.

Likewise, it is not written on the wall that Big Labor and women will more willingly vote for Hillary Clinton rather than for her opponent, he adds. The American academic stresses that Big Labor remembers that it was the Clintons who championed the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) in 1993 as well as a 2012 South Korean trade pact which, according to labor unionists, destroyed tens of thousands of American jobs.
Moreover, there is little if any doubt Hillary Clinton will continue to push ahead with the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), which triggers Big Labor's deepest concerns.
Navarro debunks yet another myth, which says that Trump's opposition in GOP will eventually "sink" him, referring to the fact that the presidential nominee's Republican opponents constitute a small faction within the party.
Finally, one of the biggest mistakes of both the political elites and Trump's opponents, according to the US academic, is that they believe that his tough rhetoric was costing him votes.

"After all, much of Trump's popularity stems from his willingness to say what he thinks, even (or especially) if it offends the politically correct," Navarro recalls, adding that "if Trump simply stays focused on his four aces of the economy, trade, immigration and national security, it is equally true that he will surely play a winning hand."

For her part, Kelly Riddell of the Washington Times denounced the mainstream media narrative that Donald Trump may surrender before the November election as "absurd," stressing that there are clear signs that Donald Trump is determined to win. She calls attention to the fact that Trump has shaken up his campaign by hiring Stephen Bannon, Breitbart News' executive chairman, as his campaign executive chief and Kellyanne Conway, a Republican pollster, as his campaign manager.
"Mr. Trump has surprised this entire election season, and there's no reason to think he can't do it again, no matter what the polls say today," Riddell emphasized.
"I believe we're adding some of the best talents in politics, with the experience and expertise needed to defeat Hillary Clinton in November and continue to share my message and vision to make America great again," Trump said in his official announcement, as quoted by Politico.com.

An email leaked by WikiLeaks reveals that when Hillary Clinton was US secretary of state in 2011, billionaire George Soros instructed her on how to handle unrest in Albania, stressing it “needs urgent attention at senior levels of the US government.”

“Dear Hillary,” begins the email dated January 24, 2011 from the founder of Open Society Foundations, Soros.
“A serious situation has arisen in Albania which needs urgent attention at senior levels of the US government. You may know that an opposition demonstration in Tirana on Friday resulted in the deaths of three people and the destruction of property,” Soros says, according to the leaked email.

Three men were shot dead as anti-government demonstrators clashed with police in the Albanian capital in late January of 2011. Supporters of the opposition Socialist Party refused to accept the results of a 2009 election, citing corruption and fraud, when then-Prime Minister Sali Berisha’s Democratic Party won by a thin margin. Berisha accused the opposition of attempting to provoke a Tunisia-style uprising, saying “the bastard children of Albania’s own Ben Alis conceived Tunisian scenarios.”
“There are serious concerns about further unrest connected to a counter-demonstration to be organized by the governing party... and a follow-up event by the opposition two days later to memorialize the victims,” Soros says.
“The prospect of tens of thousands of people entering the streets in an already inflamed political environment bodes ill for the return of public order and the country’s fragile democratic process,” he adds.
“I believe two things need to be done urgently,” he adds.
“1. Bring the full weight of the international community to bear on Prime Minister Berisha and opposition leader Edi Rama to forestall further public demonstrations and to tone down public pronouncements.
2. Appoint a senior European official as a mediator.”
Soros suggested three candidates: Carl Bildt, Martti Ahtisaari, and Miroslav Lajcak, saying all “have strong connections to the Balkans.”
“The US and the EU must work in complete harmony over this, but given Albania’s European aspirations the EU must take the lead,” he stressed, adding that his foundation in Tirana was “monitoring the situation closely and can provide independent analysis of the crisis.”

New Hillary leak: Wikileaks releases 20K DNC emails

Several days after the email was sent to Clinton, the EU did send one of Soros’ suggested nominees, Miroslav Lajcak, to meet Albanian leaders in Tirana to try to mediate an end to the unrest, Reuters reported.
In March, WikiLeaks launched a searchable archive consisting of 30,322 emails from Hillary Clinton’s private email server that she used while serving as US secretary of state. The 50,547 pages of documents cover Clinton’s correspondence from June 30, 2010 to August 12, 2014, of which 7,570 were sent by Clinton herself.
Last month, the whistleblowing website published an archive of over 1,200 of Clinton’s private emails pertaining to the Iraq War. Ahead of the release, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange said the “upcoming leaks in relation to Hillary Clinton” would be enough to indict her.
Soros made a name for himself as the “man who broke the Bank of England” by engaging in questionable Forex hedging and betting against the sterling pound – which made him more than $1 billion in one day in September of 1992. Some have speculated that Soros has benefited from insider trading information when making investments. In 2002, a Paris court found Soros guilty of using inside information to profit from a 1988 takeover deal for bank Societe Generale.

RESOLUTION


The situation in the region of Himara the last 25 years, regarding property rights, is worsening because of of the actions and the arbitrariness of the Albanian government which is encouraging people with political and economical powers, members of organised crime groups and the mafia to systematically trespassing and stilling the properties of the people of Himara.


The parliament, the government, the justice system, the public administration and the media are been used to wipe out Himara and its history and implement assimilation policies which are favored by the new legal framework and decisions of the Albanian government which are resulting in violation of basic human rights and freedoms,  violating the Albanian Constitution.


The people of Himara demand:


1. The immediate cancellation of all urban planning initiative, project or development plan, expropriation of private land, donation of community land to any domestic or foreign pseudo-investor that the Albanian government is planning and implementing in our region until a proper and guarantied fare property registration of private and community owned land and real estate properties is fully completed in the whole region of Himara.


2. Abolition of the destructive 7501 law "For the farming land" which has resulted in taking away the ownership of farming land from its real owners and in the destruction of thousands of olive trees and in the construction of abusive buildings based on fraud ownership titles, which is also helped by the lack of a general property registration process and the ban of registration of properties which were returned to its legal inheritors through court decisions and the process of returning confiscated properties.


3. We call on international and Euro-Atlantic partners to urge pressure on the Albanian legislative and administrative institutions to cancel all unconstitutional laws and government decisions which violate basic human rights starting from the new administrative reform, the new property compensation law and the new law "For tourism".


4. We demand the final return of all community properties and those belonging to the Christian Orthodox Church in Himara, which the government should return and respect. Also the return of properties which use to belong to the army and properties belonging to the municipality.


5. We request the immediate halt of the construction of resorts and so called "touristic villages", until after the Albanian government has transparently proved to the people of Himare the legality of the ownership titles based on which those permissions were given.


6. We call on your representatives in Albania, to push towards the implementation of the new "decriminalization process" and "justice reform" as soon as possible including in the region of Himara where massive fraud and property theft has taken place from members of the Albanian mafia, organized crime connected with politicians, oligarchs and people close to the administrative and justice institutions, under the umbrella of the so called "plans for development of tourism".


With trust in GOD and respect towards the Albanian Constitution, the people of Himara express through this RESOLUTION, their free will and expectations, hoping to get your support and understanding in the difficult process of protecting our basic human rights and the implementation of the rule of law and justice in the region of Himare and throughout Albania.

An email from George Soros to SecState Hillary Clinton, from 2011,  seems to prove the contention that Hillary Clinton is nothing more than a globalist puppet of foreign interventionists...

Wikileaks has released a telling 2011 email from Globalist George Soros directing Secretary of State, at the time, Hillary Clinton, to stage an intervention in Albania due to violence between the Albanian government and riotous protestors.

In 2011 and at the time of the upheaval in Albania, the Albanian government was in the process of soliciting the EU for membership status in the Eurozone, which has been an ongoing project for George Soros in the establishment of his global New World Order.
In effect, the rioting and protests in the streets of Albania were not beneficial to Soros' goal of building the EU consortium across Europe, especially with predominantly Islamist nations, such as Albania.
In the letter, Soros, who has funded millions towards Clinton's campaign, stated the following, as published in the American Mirror:

 “Dear Hillary, 

“A serious situation has arisen in Albania which needs urgent attention at senior levels of the US government. You may know that an opposition demonstration in Tirana on Friday resulted in the deaths of three people and the destruction of property. 

“There are serious concerns about further unrest connected to a counter-demonstration to be organized by the governing party on Wednesday and a follow-up event by the opposition two days later to memorialize the victims. 

“The prospect of tens of thousands of people entering the streets in an already inflamed political environment bodes ill for the return of public order and the country’s fragile democratic process.”

Soros urges the then-Secretary of State to get the international community involved and pressure the Prime Minister to “forestall further demonstrations” and “tone down public pronouncements” as well appointing a senior European official to act as the mediator.

The left-wing billionaire also gave Clinton a list of potential nominees to appoint as mediator: Carl Bildt, Martti Ahtisaari, and Miroslav Lajcak.

The e-mail was sent from Soros’ aide to Richard Verma, then the Assistant Secretary of State for Legislative Affairs who forwarded it to several of Clinton’s top aides including Huma Abedin, Jacob Sullivan, and Philip Gordon. Sullivan forwarded it to Clinton.

Just three days after Clinton received the e-mail from Soros the EU ended up sending Soros’ suggested nominee Lajcak to mediate the civil unrest, the BBC reported."

But, while Soros seemed interested enough to quell the unrest in Albania, and return social order by intervening via protege' Hillary Clinton and her US State Department, Soros was simultaneously setting the table tor social unrest in the US, to eventually achieve the exact opposite effect he was seeking in Albania.

According to the Washington Times, Soros, who is Hillary Clinton's founding donor, in addition to Barack Obama, actually helped financed the deadly Ferguson protests which turned into riots:

"There’s a solitary man at the financial center of the Ferguson protest movement. No, it’s not victim Michael Brown or Officer Darren Wilson. It’s not even the Rev. Al Sharpton, despite his ubiquitous campaign on TV and the streets.

Rather, it’s liberal billionaire George Soros, who has built a business empire that dominates across the ocean in Europe while forging a political machine powered by nonprofit foundations that impacts American politics and policy, not unlike what he did with MoveOn.org.

Mr. Soros spurred the Ferguson protest movement through years of funding and mobilizing groups across the U.S., according to interviews with key players and financial records reviewed by The Washington Times.

In all, Mr. Soros gave at least $33 million in one year to support already-established groups that emboldened the grass-roots, on-the-ground activists in Ferguson, according to the most recent tax filings of his nonprofit Open Society Foundations."

Soros, pushing hard for his US candidate, Hillary Clinton,  to win in 2016,  more recently funded a series of ongoing US protests, with some turning violent, against Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

According to the New York Times, Soros is funding as much as $ 15 Million dollars in order to spark an immigrant and Latino uprising against the US anti-establishment political movement, in the US, as led by Donald Trump:

"The billionaire George Soros and other liberal donors will bankroll a new $15 million campaign to mobilize Latinos and other immigrants this fall, hoping to channel outrage at the political rhetoric of Donald J. Trump and other Republicans into a surge of votes for Democratic candidates in November. 

Strategists involved said the new spending would be the largest Democratic voter-turnout effort ever devoted exclusively to Latino and immigrant voters."

As news spread far and wide in the US, of Hillary Clinton supporter George Soros' involvement in the US protests, some of which eventually turned into riots and one Black Lives Matter protest even resulting in the mass deaths of police officers, in Texas, Soros has,  at least for a time, quelled his riotous protest activities, which some legal experts have contended as being nothing if not, sedition. 
Moreover, many political experts have simultaneously likened the actions of Hillary Clinton to being as those of one under the control of a puppet master, and the Wikileaks letter from Soros to Clinton seems to have now proven the political opposition's contentions.
Their characterizations of Hillary Clinton as being under the direction of anti-American George Soros, and many others across the globe who have donated lavishly to Clinton, seem to have now been well beyond proved.

According to Donald Trump, Clinton resides deeply in the pockets of foreign interventionists into America. 
In a speech delivered on 6/22/16 ,on Hillary Clinton and her global handlers, in part, Trump stated the following:

"She ran the State Department like her own personal hedge fund – doing favors for oppressive regimes, and many others, in exchange for cash. 

Together, she and Bill made $153 million giving speeches to lobbyists, CEOs, and foreign governments in the years since 2001.

 They totally own her, and that will never change. 

We got here because we switched from a policy of Americanism – focusing on what’s good for America’s middle class – to a policy of globalism, focusing on how to make money for large corporations who can move their wealth and workers to foreign countries all to the detriment of the American worker and the American economy. 

We reward companies for offshoring, and we punish companies for doing business in America and keeping our workers employed. 

This is not a rising tide that lifts all boats. 

This is a wave of globalization that wipes out our middle class and our jobs."

Once again, it seems, Donald Trump has been proven correct.

Trump has taken flak over allegations he called for the assassination of Hillary Clinton [EPA]

Donald Trump accused President Barack Obama on Wednesday of founding the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant group (ISIL, also known as ISIS) that is wreaking havoc from the Middle East to European cities.
A moment later, on another topic, he emphasised the president's full legal name: Barack Hussein Obama.
"In many respects, you know, they honor President Obama," Trump said during a raucous campaign rally outside Fort Lauderdale, Florida. "He is the founder of ISIS."
He repeated the allegation three times.
"He's the founder of ISIS, okay?" he added. "He's the founder. He founded ISIS."
Trump has long blamed Obama and his former foreign minister Hillary Clinton for pursuing Middle East policies that created a power vacuum in Iraq that was exploited by ISIL.
He has sharply criticised Obama for announcing he would pull US troops out of Iraq, a decision that many Obama critics say created the kind of instability in which groups like ISIL thrive.
The White House declined to comment on Trump's accusation.
The former property mogul and reality TV star went on to criticise Clinton, his Democratic party rival for the presidency.
"And I would say, the co-founder would be crooked Hillary Clinton," he said.

Trump's accusation - and his pointed use of the president's middle name, Hussein - echoed previous instances where he has questioned Obama's loyalties.

In June, when a gunman who claimed allegiance to ISIL killed 49 people in a Florida nightclub, Trump seemed to suggest Obama was sympathetic to the group when he said Obama "doesn't get it, or he gets it better than anybody understands”.
In the past, Trump has also falsely suggested Obama is a Muslim or was born in Kenya, where Obama's father was from.

Trump under fire for veiled threat against Clinton

Trump lobbed the allegation halfway through his rally at a sports arena, where riled-up supporters shouted obscenities about Clinton and shouted "lock her up”.
He also railed against the fact that the Orlando shooter's father, Seddique Mateen, was spotted in the crowd behind Clinton during a Monday rally in Florida, saying: "Of course he likes Hillary Clinton."
Trump has been criticised over the past week for comments he made suggesting gun rights advocates could stop Clinton from becoming president and picking new, anti-gun Supreme Court judges, by using their second amendment rights, which allow them to bear arms.
"Hillary wants to essentially abolish the Second Amendment," Trump told a rally in North Carolina.
"If she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do folks," Trump said. "Although the Second Amendment people - maybe there is, I don't know."
Trump's campaign spokesman later denied allegations that the comments were advocating for Clinton to be assassinated.

Erdogan travels to Russia to reset relations

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan meets his Russian counterpart in St Petersburg after months of diplomatic crisis

Russian President Vladimir Putin is hosting Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan in their first meeting since Turkey shot down a Russian fighter jet last November, sparking a deep diplomatic crisis.
Erdogan's visit to Putin's hometown of St Petersburg on Tuesday is also his first foreign trip since a failed coup attempt last month that sparked a purge of alleged coup supporters in the military, judiciary, civil service and education sector, and cast a shadow over Turkey's relations with the West.
"Your visit today, despite a very difficult situation regarding domestic politics, indicates that we all want to restart dialogue and restore relations between Russia and Turkey," Putin said as the two met.
Erdogan said that Turkey was entering a "very different period" in relations with Russia, and that solidarity between the two countries would help the resolution of regional problems.
Erdogan also thanked his Russian counterpart for a telephone call after the failed coup attempt on July 15, saying it "brought our people great happiness".
The shooting down of the Russian jet by a Turkish F-16 over the Syrian border last November saw a furious Putin slap economic sanctions on Turkey and launch a blistering war of words with Erdogan that seemed to irrevocably damage burgeoning ties.
"When the Turkish military shot down a Russian fighter jet that it said strayed from Syrian into Turkish airspace last November, Moscow's retaliation was swift," Al Jazeera's Bernard Smith, reporting from Istanbul, said.

Syria is expected to be high on the agenda during the visit. Moscow's military support for Syria's President Bashar al-Assad has been credited for helping to keep him in power.
Turkey, though, wants him gone.
"Currently Turkey cannot enter Syria, it cannot do anything in Syria because the Russian forces are there," Erhan Ersan, a Russian affairs specialist at Istanbul's Marmara University, told Al Jazeera.
"In order to solve that, they need to bring their positions closer to Russia. If you hear the messages coming from President Erdogan he's actually open to that. He wants to build a new framework of relations based on Syria with Russia as well."

The head of the opposition Syrian National Coalition welcomed the meeting.

Speaking at a press conference in Istanbul on Monday, Anas al-Abda said Erdogan’s visit could be a "positive step" for finding a solution to a ruinous war that has killed hundreds of thousands. 

“We consider the Turkish president as a key ally of the Syrian people," al-Abda told Turkey's state-run Anadolu Agency. "He has a chance to propose ideas and initiatives to Russians and to explain them the current situation in Syria."

Mother of Crying Baby at Rally Speaks Out, Defends Trump

The mother of the crying baby that Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump joked about at an Ashburn, Virginia campaign rally on Tuesday has spoken out disputing the media and Clinton campaign’s smear job against Trump over the incident.

Trump starts rally in Ashburn, Virginia by saying he needs bigger arenas
“Trump just said he “doesn’t throw babies out” of his rallies…Let’s review the record.”
Devan Ebert first wrote an open letter to Trump on Facebook that went viral (the original appears to have been made private). Ebert then spoke to the Washington Post in an email interview that was published Saturday afternoon that largely tracked with the viral Facebook post.
Glenn Kessler, the ‘fact-checker’ for the Post who interviewed Ebert, gave Trump the ‘Geppetto Checkmark’ for being truthful when he said he did not throw the baby out of the rally.
The news media jumped ugly on Trump over his lighthearted remarks about the crying baby and made no effort to ascertain the facts of the situation. As Kessler points out, a Toronto Star reporter named Daniel Dale wrote about the incident that day and noted the woman stepped out on her own and returned to her seat later with the baby quieted by a pacifier.

…The baby was one row in front of me, three or four rows from the stage, at Trump’s event at a high school in Ashburn, Va. When it began to cry, Trump said, “Don’t worry about that baby, I love babies. I love babies. I hear that baby crying, I like it. I like it. What a baby, what a beautiful baby. Don’t worry, don’t worry. The mom’s running around — don’t worry about it.”
People applauded. One minute later, though, the baby began to cry again. This time, the mother quickly decided to take the baby out of the room. Trump, looking in our direction, appeared to notice that she was on her way to the exit.
And then he said, “Actually, I was only kidding. You can get the baby out of here. That’s all right. Don’t worry. I think she really believed me that I love having a baby crying while I’m speaking?” He cupped his hand over his eyes to watch her leave. “That’s OK, people don’t understand. That’s OK.”
A joke? Possibly. An insensitive, heartless, ordinary-person-embarrassing remark? Possibly. Trump’s tone is eternally hard to read. But, to my eyes, it certainly was not an ejection — it was an unusually barbed endorsement of the mother’s own decision to depart.
One other salient fact is missing from all the pieces on babygate. Mom and baby, very much not kicked out, came back to their seat a bit later.
The baby was sucking a pacifier, silent.”

That was published the day of the incident. The media piled on Trump as a cold, mean, woman-hating, baby-hating man. And the media wonders why Trump holds them in such contempt.

Hello, this message is for Donald J. Trump.
I was the mother in his rally on Tuesday, August 2nd, in Ashburn, VA, with the baby who started to cry. I would just like him to know personally that I, by no means felt I was ever “kicked out” of his rally. I excused myself and my child when he awoke from his nap and began to cry. It was only because I had to grab my child’s belongings and then make my way out of the aisle I was seated in that I wasn’t out of there sooner.
I realize Mr. Trump doesn’t know me personally, but for those that do, know that I am the first one to excuse myself and my child when he begins to cry because I personally believe it’s rude to disturb anyone else’s ability to hear what they came to see. I’ve left movies, violin recitals, and other events if I felt my child was disturbing others. It is the considerate thing to do.
I stood right outside the doors of the auditorium continuing to watch and listen to what Mr. Trump had to say. In fact, the police that were right outside in the same hallway with me, treated me with so much respect it was incredible. They were so kind and made me feel welcomed to stand with them. One officer commended me on my bravery to bring my child to Mr. Trump’s rally.
I fully support Mr. Trump. I thought he responded very graciously to my child crying and he made a lighthearted moment out of what I usually consider to be stressful. I actually was out of the auditorium before he even made his follow up comment about my child and even then, when I was informed of his comment, I laughed. I understand he says things jokingly, and I understand no one wants to speak over or struggle to listen over a crying baby.
I am in no way offended and I again reiterate, Mr. Trump NEVER kicked me or my child out of the Briar Woods High School, Trump rally. And for the record, while my child and I stood outside of the auditorium, my eleven year old stepdaughter and my Grandmother sat inside the auditorium and continued to support and listen to everything Mr. Trump had to say. We all were so excited to be able to see Mr. Trump so close to home. I didn’t have a babysitter to watch my kids and honestly, to me it was a historical moment that I am happy that my kids were there for.
I apologize for the trouble this has caused Mr.Trump. The media has severely blown this out of proportion and made it out to be something that it wasn’t and is clearly using this as political gain for the Democratic party. I hope this message sheds light to what really happened.

Ebert’s comments to the Washington Post are similar to the Facebook statement.

Dale’s account is confirmed by the mother herself — Virginia resident Devan Ebert. (She spoke on the condition that we not report her town.)
“The media did in fact blow this entire situation out of proportion,” she wrote in an email. “I’m not looking to make it into anything bigger. All I’m hoping is that Trump personally is aware that I am in agreement with him and stand by the fact that I was never kicked out of the rally.”
She said that she decided to leave the auditorium on her own because “it’s the considerate thing to do for others around, trying to listen or for those presenting,” adding that “it was blatantly obvious he was joking.” She said she stood with the police officers outside the auditorium, who were very kind to her, and then returned to her seat once her child had calmed down.
“I had a wonderful time and I appreciate Trump’s graciousness during a time that is usually considered stressful,” she said. “His comic relief was a breath of fresh air.””

Probably the most hysterical smear of Trump was written by Julie Scharper and published by the Baltimore Sun the day after the ‘baby incident’ with the headline, “Trump banished the baby, humiliated the mother.”

I imagine this mother waited a long time to get into the Trump rally. She probably brought her baby because she hoped Mr. Trump would kiss her baby, pose for a photo. I’m sure she was horrified when the baby started crying, but hoped the usual tricks would calm him. I’m sure she didn’t want to leave and lose her place. I’m sure she took Mr. Trump at his word when he said, “Don’t worry.”
Instead, Mr. Trump humiliated this mother in front of the crowd. He belittled her for taking him at his word. “I think she really believed me,” he said. Strange words for someone who punctuates his speeches with, “Believe me.”
It’s a bully’s game, manipulative and mean. Lie and then taunt someone for trusting you. If Mr. Trump would sum up his campaign in a few words, perhaps they would be, “I think they really believed me.”

Barely a month ago, he looked gaunt and emotional as he told of his regret at a London press conference over mistakes made after his decision to invade Iraq.

But last week, Tony Blair cut a very different figure. Wearing an open-necked shirt, designer sunglasses and statement gold cross necklace, he posed for a photo in a sun-drenched corner of southern Europe, looking as though the trauma of the Chilcot Inquiry was a long way behind him.

The former Prime Minister's trip – to Albania – came to light when the country's socialist premier Edi Rama posted the picture of the pair on Facebook. They are understood to have been in Dhermi, a village in the south, where Mr Rama was on holiday.

But Mr Blair, 63, was spotted arriving in the area earlier last week in what is understood to be a military helicopter, landing – according to local reports – in a stadium in Himare, about 130 miles south of the capital Tirana.

Mr Blair has long-standing links to the country, having been named three years ago as an adviser to Mr Rama. His wife Cherie has also acted as a lawyer for the Albanian government.

The Republican nominee polled within the margin of error in the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll despite a feud with the family of a slain soldier and the media fabrication that Donald Trump is a secret Russian agent.

Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s post-convention bounce has evaporated with her lead over rival Donald Trump faltering to less than 3 percentage points, a statistical tie, in the latest Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll down from nearly eight points on Monday. The online poll, conducted from July 31-Aug. 4 consisted of 1,154 likely voters with a margin of error of 3 percentage points.

Poll: 13% of Americans Favor Meteor Smashing into Earth Over Clinton, Trump

The poor performance for Clinton in the latest survey comes as Reuters polling has been blasted in recent days by experienced political operatives who claimed that the firm tampered with and "cooked" their own tracking poll to manufacture a sudden surge for Hillary Clinton by removing the option of "neither" forcing voters to select between one of the two flawed candidates.
This is believed to create a bias because many of the respondents who would have said neither ultimately will likely not show up to vote in November. Democratic political pollster Pat Caddell called the change part of a "jihad" by the mainstream media against the off-color Republican nominee.
“They made a switch, as much as nine points, in their results from the beginning of last week, the 25th and 26th,” said Caddell at the time. "This is a crisis of democracy, what the press is now doing."

They’re With Her: US Media Uses Putin, Russia to Label Trump a Traitor

Whether or not the poll results are "cooked" to present Hillary in a more favorable light, the move seems to be backfiring with the results of the pro-Clinton poll showing that the media’s bid to coronate the candidate not named Trump as anything but certain.
The results of the latest survey are somewhat surprising given that Donald Trump has been repeatedly lambasted over the last week after a Clinton campaign conspiracy theory that the Republican nominee is in league with the Russians turned into a full-blown media obsession with even a former CIA chief saying on Friday calling Donald Trump an agent of Vladimir Putin.
Trump has also failed to navigate criticism lodged against his candidacy by the family of deceased war hero Humayun Khan who saved several hundred lives when he stepped in front of a Jihadist vehicle preventing them from breaching a military base. Trump called the attacks by the soldier’s father, Khizr Khan a "vicious attack" and kept the media narrative spinning against him when he questioned whether the soldier’s mother was prohibited from speaking under Islamic law.

‘So Stupid, My God!’: Paris Mayor Slams Donald Trump

The candidate also alienated Republican Party leaders in the past week refusing on Monday to endorse House Speaker Paul Ryan saying "I’m just not there yet" quoting back the Congressman’s words about Trump several months earlier in an act of spite. He also said that he was uncomfortable endorsing US Senator John McCain saying that his record on veteran’s issues has been abysmal. These actions against his party’s establishment seem to have played favorably with the electorate, however.
Trump may have successfully played both developed his anti-establishment brand by his mockery of Paul Ryan and criticism of John McCain earlier this week while maintaining support from Party leaders open by relenting and offering a half-hearted endorsement
