The visit of Albanian President Ilir Meta on Wednesday in Kosovo culminated with the statement of counterpart Hashim Thaci that he demanded from the head of the Albanian state to grant Albanian citizenship to all citizens of Kosovo.

According to him, this is the only option that Kosovo has in terms of classical isolation from the European Union. "I have the impression that it is in full compliance with Albanian and European legislation", Thaci declared.

While President Ilir Meta said the main goal is to escape this blockade that the EU has imposed on Kosovo. He said there are endless demands and pressures from Kosovo Albanians to get Albanian citizenship. This statement comes a few days after Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj's visit to Tirana and the strategy for facilitating border crossing procedures between the two countries.

During the previous government of Prime Minister Berisha, he tried to give dual citizenship to Kosovo Albanian citizens, but the EU and USA stopped this initiative, which could lead to the change of borders in the Balkans.
