paris_Attack23At least one of the eight Paris attack perpetrators was among the refugees who had passed through Greece in October holding a Syrian passport, Greek authorities say.
According to Deputy Citizen Protection Minister Nikos Toskas, the Syrian passport found at one of the attack sites was identified as a person who was a refugee, registered on Leros island, on October 3rd.
The official citizen protection ministry statement reads as follows:
“On the case of the Syrian passport found at the scene of the terrorist attack. We announce that the passport holder, had passed from Leros on 03.10.2015 where he was identified based on EU regulations on the refugee issue. We do not know if the passport was checked in other countries which the holder likely passed through. We will continue the painstaking and persistent effort under difficult circumstances to ensure the security of our country and Europe, insisting on the thorough identification of all persons in the refugee inflow.”
The perpetrator had arrived at Leros on October 3rd along with 70 other migrants. He was registered and identified at the island’s hot spot and two days later left Greece.
French authorities have given Greek police a second name of a suspect who had also passed through Greece along with other refugees.
