"Kosovo Serbs' problems are Serbia's concern"

BANJA LUKA -- The Serb Republic (RS) will respect any position of Serbian officials concerning the Belgrade-Priština agreement on normalization of relations.

This is according to the president of the Serb entity, Milorad Dodik, who spoke on Tuesday in Banja Luka.

Dodik, who met with representatives of Kosovo Serbs in Banja Luka on Monday to talk about the agreement, says he understands the difficult position they are in, but the issue must be settled in Serbia.

Commenting on the parallels some international representatives have drawn between Kosovo and RS, Dodik said that unlike RS, Kosovo unilaterally declared independence and had the support of a number of major powers.

"Many wanted to present this as an exception, but this story might become the rule in some other places," said Dodik.

He said that if the "bad position" of RS inside Bosnia-Herzegovina continues, no one should rule out the possibility that the entity will protect its rights.

Dodik told reporters in Banja Luka that a revision of the Dayton Agreement is not possible and the issue cannot be taken to the international scene, because BiH is trying to find an internal balance.

The RS president said Bosnia's Euro-Atlantic integration has hit a snag and stressed the RS is not responsible for this and is ready to honor any agreement of the six leading parties in the country.
