Greeks Hold Protest At ANT1 Against Turkish Drama Series
About seven associations from Asia Minor, Costantinopole, Cyprus and of course Greece gathered together on Sunday night in order to protest outside of the offices of ANT1 Television in Maroussi against the channel's decision to broadcast the Turkish Syleman the Magnificent drama series.
Greek television stations have indeed over broadcasted these Turkish nightly soap operas, because in most cases they are free or cost next to nothing. What they have not measured is how this will affect Greek society as a whole.
We therefore would like to send them a message. Instead of featuring news stories about some radicals, as you call them, or extremists, protesting outside of a television station, you should ask yourselves why would Turkey give Greece free nightly soap operas to broadcast?
Secondly, so long as the northern portion of Cyprus is occupied there is no way in hell that societies from both these countries can come together.
And finally, when Turkey stops provoking our national sentiment, gets its Consulate out of Komotini, and stops illegally trafficking people from third world nations into our country, maybe then we will be ready as Greeks to sit down and talk about coming closer.
For now... HellasFrappe is in FULL SUPPORT with these protesters, and as a blog we will continue to support and publish their future actions as well!smanalysis
